Magnificent Qashqai khorjin (bag), Persia, circa 1900.
Traditionally woven and knotted using wool-on-wool technique, this khorjin features a thick pile, approximately 1 cm deep, made from very high-quality wool that is soft and almost silky.
The color palette, which remains particularly vibrant despite the piece’s age, combines deep shades of indigo blue and midnight blue with hues of brick red, ivory, dark brown, ochre, and turquoise blue. The colors, derived from plant-based dyes, have retained a beautiful luster and remarkable vibrancy.
The dense and powerfully geometric design is organized around stylized motifs arranged symmetrically on a deep blue background, framed by several borders featuring floral and geometric patterns.
The upper section retains its original fastening system intact, a particularly interesting detail. This system also allows for wall hanging by simply inserting a rod into the slits.
A very beautiful Qashqai piece, both decorative and authentic, preserved in excellent condition.
