"Heybe Double Bag. Korkuteli - Anatolia. Circa 1930. 113 X 47 Cm"
A very pretty Heybe originating from Korkuteli, Antalya region, Southwest Anatolia. Heybes are double bags used by the formerly nomadic populations of Anatolia. They were used to carry various goods. Old black and white photographs exist showing women collecting kindling to prepare a fire. This one is entirely embroidered. The repeated patterns on the surface create a delightful geometric pattern. The piece is very graphic and highly decorative. Mid-20th century, circa 1960. Perfect condition. Dimensions: 113 x 47 cm.
