Kilim Hakkari - Anatolia. Circa 1880.200 X 156 Cm
Magnificent kilim originating from Hakkari in the far east of Anatolia. The piece is the work of the Kurdish people, the majority population of this region. It is woven in two sections joined and sewn together. In the past, nomadic peoples only had small, lightweight, and easily transportable looms. This kilim alone displays many characteristics of Kurdish weaving. First, its long, braided, net-like fringes, two slightly asymmetrical sections, the motifs, of course, and also the abundant use of indigo blue. The dyes are exclusively natural and plant-based. The tones are very soft in a controlled harmony. A true work of art! Circa 1880. Very good condition, lovely patina. Dimensions: 200 x 156 cm. Laurent, Beauty of Kilims
