Tabriz rug circa 1980 in hand-knotted kork wool from Iran.
It measures 200 cm wide x 303 cm long.
This rug is very clean, the soft and thick kork wool, beautifully and tightly knotted, reveals nuances full of contrasts.
A beautiful medallion surrounded by a semi-circle of flowers placed on a cream field surrounded by four spandrels and abundantly worked borders.
The unusual nuances highlight this clever floral design in the great tradition of Persian art.
Art inspired by the miniatures of the Tabriz school, then the capital of the Persian Empire.
The fringes are clean and in good condition, they finish this very high quality carpet.
Kork wool is the softest wool, taken from under the belly and neck of lambs. This carpet dates from the 1980s.
Piece in very good condition, showing very slight wear.
