Important Ottoman vase 46 cm high, abundantly engraved on the entire body.
The many motifs expressed are mandorlas, medallions, rosettes, fourteen mihrabs at the base of the body, braids and Arabic knots.
Two beautiful oriental calligraphies in cartouches, and chiseled epigraphic decorations are incorporated into the whole and around these aforementioned elements.
The body has beautiful proportions, and ends with a long neck. It ends in a large flared chalice in the Islamic tradition.
This majestic vase originating from the Ottoman Empire dates from the 18th century. It is in good condition, however, noting a crack inscribed at the bottom of the belly.
This accident does not spoil the beauty of this sublime piece.
This style of decoration is similar to those found on all objects from the regions of the Middle East, former regions of the Ottoman Empire.
These regions were home to a population of Armenian origin expert in the work of copperware and oriental arts in general. These containers, abundantly decorated with marvelous engravings, were the joy and pride of the collections of the princes of this time and the happiness of collectors of Islamic art today.
These marvelous coppers and brasses were, under the Ottoman dynasties, Safavids or Kadjars, an eminent alternative to silver and they enjoyed the same status. This object lived as one of the centerpieces of a palace.
## The Ottoman Empire lasted from 1299 to 1923 (more than six centuries).
For a long time it was a small autonomous beylik, then de facto independent of the Seljuk Sultanate, then in full decline. It then extended for three centuries from the gates of Vienna to the Persian Gulf, from Oran in Algeria to Baku on the Caspian Sea, and from the steppes of present-day Ukraine to the marshes of the Nile in present-day Sudan and the mountains of present-day Yemen. In its international relations, the Ottoman Empire was called the "Sublime Ottoman Porte", or simply "Sublime Porte", after the monumental gate of honor of the Grand Vizierate, the seat of the Sultan's government in Constantinople and was an ally of the Kingdom of France against the Habsburgs. A vase of great delicacy, reflecting the taste and refinement of the Ottoman nobility or bourgeoisie.
# These objects are present in the major collections of museums of Islamic art throughout the world.- Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence, Italy.- Museum für Islamische Kunst, Staatliche Museum zu Berlin, Berlin, Germany.
## Pure copper is at the origin of the alloys that are bronze and brass. It has been shaped by repoussé at all times, but it has often been gilded, enameled, covered or inlaid with other materials. It has been used a lot in the manufacture of objects of everyday life. Boilermaking includes this type of production and certain countries, like those of the Muslim East have become masters in the matter.
