Persian Gabbeh Rug 160x90 Cm

Gabbeh Persian Nomad Rug

Gabbeh rugs often feature simple, not particularly detailed patterns.
However, they are the most famous nomadic rugs of Iran. Gabbeh rugs are knotted by the Ghashghai tribe in the Fars province of Iran.
The basic material is hand-spun wool, which is then dyed with natural colors obtained from plants and minerals.
They are relatively thick, sometimes up to 2.5 cm.

In Persian, Gabbeh means raw or natural. The perfect name for these nomadic rugs, whose design is limited to the essentials. A simple plant or animal motif, such as camels or trees, is often featured on the rug. These motifs are inspired by the daily life of the surrounding nomads.

Size : 160 x 90 cm
Condition : General wear to the wool, the wool is curling (fringing).
