Gabbeh rugs often have simple patterns and are not particularly detailed.
However, they are the most famous nomadic rugs in Iran. Gabbeh rugs are knotted by the nomads of the Ghashghai tribe in the Fars province of Iran.
The base material is hand-spun wool, which is then dyed with natural colors obtained from plants and minerals.
They are relatively thick, up to 2.5 cm thick.
In Persian, Gabbeh means raw or natural. The perfect name for these nomadic rugs, whose design is limited to the essentials.
The rug often features a simple plant or animal motif, such as camels or trees. These patterns are inspired by the daily life of the nomads in the surrounding area.
Size : 300 x 235 cm
Condition : Slightly darker stripe marks have appeared across the entire surface after washing. They are much less visible indoors (the photos were taken outdoors, in natural light). This wool-related phenomenon will diminish with use.
