Kolyali Runner / Gallery Rug 300x93 Cm
Koliai rugs, sometimes called Songhur rugs, take their name from the Koliai tribes, originally from Koliai and surrounding villages in the Sonqor region of western Iran.
These people, known for their rug weaving skills, are part of Iran's Kurdish minority.
Historically, these rugs were woven to meet everyday needs: floor mats, blankets, saddle pads, etc.
But their spectacular and aesthetic designs made them so popular that they became sought-after commodities.
While Koliai rugs were originally made entirely of wool, cotton warp yarn is now most commonly used in their manufacture. The geometric patterns and subtle color shades make them very popular rugs, suitable for almost any interior style.
