This beautiful Mechkabad gallery rug is 87 cm wide and 270 cm long.
This piece, circa 1970-1980, is in perfect condition, the wool is thick, soft and of good quality.
High traffic rug. Note the differences in the design, looking at the flowers, the medallion, etc., some elements are different, which proves the artisanal quality of this rug.
These rugs come from the village of Mechkabad in Iran.
They were called Mahal and then Sarouk-mahal, because they come from the Mahallat region.
The city of Mechkabad, very important in the 19th century, was a major center of carpet production.
Today, this destination is not even mentioned on maps.
A deep plum medallion placed on a midnight blue to light blue field.
Two stylized anchor-shaped pendants accompany the medallion, along the length of this piece.
These pieces are always abundantly flowered and the design of the stylized flowers of the medallion is often found in the spandrels.
Unfortunately many people confuse them with other types of carpets and origins.
Such fresh and deep colors indicate a carpet whose wool has been naturally dyed.
Velvet & selvedges in very good condition, impeccable original fringes.
Very durable carpet, knotted with quality wools.
Our model is in good condition for its age and has the characteristics described above.
This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
