Hand-knotted silk on silk, for a density of 480,000 knots per M2.
This piece measures, 108 cm wide by 160 cm long.

This rug is in very nice condition despite its years, its colors are very fresh, the deep raspberry has kept its beautiful shine.
The quality of these beautiful old silks is no longer to be demonstrated.
You can't help but admire the workmanship and the abundance of flowers and palms, framing a clever medallion accompanied by intricately designed spandrels and borders.

The region of Srinagar, is where these marvels are and were produced, silks on silk or silk on cotton
Kashmir not being one of the great wool producing regions, hence the limited use of this material.
