Magnificent Isfahan rug in very good condition, a work of art in which one can read the entire history of the knotted rug.
These are my favorite pieces, as the quality and beauty of the design are always exceptional.
## Isfahan or Ispahan in hand-knotted wool and silk, with 480,000 knots per square meter, circa 1950-1960.
Persian knot: 60 knots per 10 cm width / 80 knots per 10 cm length

This piece measures 298 cm wide by 384 cm long.
Exquisitely detailed decoration, with a medallion, field, and border that are very sophisticated for this type of Persian rug.
These pieces are considered among the finest and most durable rugs available. Iran.
The naturally occurring colors blend deep red, burgundy, blue, and ivory, creating striking contrasts with vibrant blues. Ivory enhances the overall design.
The decoration of this piece incorporates traditional colors and floral motifs found in 16th and 17th-century carpets and mosques, as well as on ancient Safavid-era ceramics.
Palm fronds, lotus flowers, and almond blossoms, often knotted into these carpets, are easily recognizable in the interlacing patterns.
The border is highly sophisticated, with the arrangement of palm fronds, blue, and burgundy alternating with lotus flowers. The inner and outer borders are adorned with small flowers and meanders, motifs used in Persia (Iran) and Turkey.
The design of the central medallion, placed side by side, is unique to these carpets, with elegant extensions in broad pendants resembling blue halberds or even large fleur-de-lis, accompanied by...
The pendants and the curve of the motifs in the corners testify to great care. The pile, edges, and fringes are in good condition. Similar medallions are found in Kashan and ancient Tabriz carpets from the same period. We find it difficult to imagine the infinite patience required then and still required today to create such beautiful pieces.
