A vibrant Caucasian kilim from Azerbaijan. Woven wool-on-wool using traditional methods. The weave is exceptionally fine. The piece is light and supple. Magnificent, vibrant, ultra-bright, and deep colors. The main motif, repeated in the central field, is that of a stylized eagle, symbolizing freedom. Kuba kilims are unique in their highly graphic nature. Highly decorative, they are powerful pieces with a painterly quality; they are veritable works of art to be placed on the floor. Circa 1920.
