A marvelous Kuba kilim originating from Azerbaijan. This piece is exceptionally fine and supple, with a refined, precise, and even weave. This characteristic of antique Caucasian kilims is appreciated both visually and to the touch. Woven wool on wool using traditional methods. Wonderful, dense, and saturated plant-based dyes. The piece is both soft and luminous. The repeated motifs in the central field are stylized eagles, symbols of freedom. All surrounded by superb borders. A rather rare and highly decorative piece. The motifs are ancestral, the original composition perfectly matches the period of production, and yet this kilim has a highly graphic appearance. Very early 20th century. Excellent condition.
