All the artistry of traditional Uzbek weaving is brought together in this small, dazzling treasure.
Khorjins are saddlebags once used by the nomadic Tatar peoples. They are often double saddlebags. We can therefore consider this object as a fragment—one side of a single bag.
What immediately catches the eye is both the extreme fineness of the weaving and the beauty of the plant-based dyes. The indigo blues are stunning.
The patterns are flawlessly executed, and the piece as a whole is exquisite.
The narrative motifs and composition are characteristic of Uzbek craftsmanship—not to be confused with Afghan or Balochi pieces, which lack this level of weaving finesse! .The central field, divided into diamond shapes, reveals stylized cross-shaped motifs; it is framed by a first, fine border featuring dragons...
