Very beautiful artifact of the nomadic Afshari culture of the 19th century in used condition, collection.
Born under the Kadjar dynasty.
It measures 134 cm wide by 176 cm long.
Superb decoration of botehs filled with stylized flowers for this Afshar carpet with a midnight blue almost black background. 360,000 knots per m2
- Turkish knot 60 knots for 10 cm in length and 60 knots for 10 cm in width.
Wool weft - wool velvet for 2 mm thickness
Afshar carpet, (Avshar) also called, Sirdjan from Persia (Iran), hand-knotted in very good quality wool.
It measures 143 cm wide by 178 cm long, decoration of botehs in a horizontal line 5 lines of 6 and 4 lines of 7.
### The "boteh" is a Zoroastrian sign of immortality, the most credible hypothesis of its form is the representation of the cypress maynu spentas, it is believed to be associated with the light of the God Ormuzd and the person of Zoroaster.
At his death he is carried to the top of a mountain where he transforms.
Another legend would be a cypress of paradise planted by Zoroaster and Kashmar (Turchiz) which would have become the highest in the world.

In the southeast of Iran, around the city of Kerman, live the semi-nomadic Afshar tribe, the Afsharis.
For a long time, these nomads lived in the northwest of Iran.
Part of the population moved to the southeast where carpet manufacturing represented an important economic sector since the middle of the 19th century.
These carpets have shades of pink, red, ochre, many blues, purple and earth colors and the majority of them bear geometric patterns.
The most common pattern used is composed of a large central field with one or more square medallions.
Some decorations represent the skin of an animal stretched before being tanned.
What is typical of Afshar carpets is that they are often relatively wide compared to their length.
Afshar carpets are also marketed under the name Sirdjan Carpet.
