Extraordinary Basin, Brass Diameter 53 Cm, Maghreb Masterpiece, Chiseled, 19th Century

Rare and unique very important "Tâs" Basin, in chiseled brass on a black bituminous background, with a domed base and convex wall, with incised decorations and traces of inlays.
Unique piece of incredible size and incomparable quality of carving. This "Tâs", originating from the Maghreb, Morocco or Tunisia, is from the second part of the 19th century.
Our model presents a decoration of six medallions decorated with very ornate trellises, alternated with six medallions calligraphic in Arabic, the whole of the rest of the body covered with friezes and interlacing.
These containers, abundantly decorated with marvelous engravings, were the joy and the pride of the collections of the princes of that time and the happiness of collectors of Islamic art today.
