Royal Worcester Painted Fruit Cabinet Plate By Brian Leaman, C.1970s

Produced by the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company, England, circa 1970s, this elegant cabinet plate is signed by the factory artist Brian Leaman and retains the original Bonhams auction labels, providing documented auction provenance.

The finely painted central reserve depicts two peaches and clusters of blackberries resting on blackberry leaves against the characteristic mossy ground of Royal Worcester's celebrated Painted Fruit decoration. A broad underglaze cobalt blue border, lavishly enriched with elaborate hand-applied 24-carat gold ornament, provides a striking frame for the composition. Having joined Royal Worcester in 1969, Brian Leaman specialised in the manufactory's traditional Painted Fruit style. Trained by the distinguished fruit painter John Freeman, he became one of the recognised exponents of this celebrated decorative tradition. Signed examples by Royal Worcester fruit painters continue to be highly regarded by collectors.

The reverse bears the official gold Royal Worcester Fine Bone China factory backstamp with the registered trademark symbol. The unworn gilt foot rim further indicates that the plate has been preserved as a cabinet display piece throughout its life.

Condition:

Outstanding original cabinet condition. Examined under UV light, no evidence of restoration, repairs, chips or cracks was detected. The hand-painted decoration, enamels, cobalt blue ground and extensive gilt decoration remain in exceptional original condition, with no discernible signs of use.
