Worcester Porcelain Plate, Dragon In Compartments, Flight Barr & Barr, C. 1820
English porcelain plate produced at Worcester during the Flight, Barr & Barr partnership around 1820. Scalloped outline with fluted cavetto, decorated in the long-standing Dragon in Compartments pattern featuring dragon and kylin panels framed by oriental objects.
The design traces back to Worcester’s late eighteenth-century interpretation of Chinese famille verte porcelain and continued into the Regency period.
The underside bears a Flight Collection label, referencing the Worcester collection formed by Howard Emerson Flight.
Dimensions: Diameter 21.7 cm; height 2.5 cm. Weight 323 g.
Condition: Antique condition. No restorations. There are underglaze cracks visible on the underside; on close inspection, they extend into the porcelain body. There is surface wear to the enamels and gilding consistent with age and use.
