An elegant Royal Worcester Blue Scale dessert dish dating to 1901. Executed in fine bone china, it reflects the factory's celebrated revival of eighteenth-century Worcester decoration during the Edwardian period.

The scalloped oval form is decorated with a rich cobalt Blue Scale ground, rococo gilding and finely painted reserves depicting exotic birds, butterflies and insects. Pattern 2525 belongs to a prestigious group of Blue Scale designs inspired by the finest Worcester productions of the Dr Wall era.

The quality of the painting recalls the work of celebrated Worcester artists such as George Johnson, while the combination of cobalt, gilding and naturalistic decoration creates exceptional visual impact.
