This Meiji period Satsuma bowl by the Nikko workshop offers soft colour and refined detail suitable for both classic and contemporary interiors. The ivory crackled ground is decorated with pastel enamel chrysanthemum sprays on the exterior, while the interior features a flowering shrub rising from a rocky base. A bold black-and-gold brocade border frames the rim and gives the bowl a clean graphic edge.
The clear “Nikko” signature beneath the Shimazu crest confirms the maker, with comparable examples appearing in noted Japanese art sales. The piece displays beautifully on a console, coffee table or in a cabinet with other curated ceramics.
