Pair of Imari porcelain plates, Japan,Meiji period, late 19th – early 20th century.

An elegant pair of Japanese plates made ofImari porcelain, featuring the characteristic polychrome decoration in shades of cobalt blue,iron red, green, and gold accents.

The center panel is adorned with a floral andbotanical design, centered around a vase of flowers, while the rim isdivided into sections richly decorated with flowers, foliage, andgeometric motifs. Alternating red and blue panels with trellis motifs,giving the piece as a whole a particularly rhythmic and refined design.

The border is scalloped, emphasizing thedecorative quality of these pieces.

The reverse features a blue underglaze painted designwith stylized floral motifs.

Produced in Japan by Arita / Imari,likely intended in part for the Western export market.

Condition: generally good for its age, with some signs of use andminor wear to the polychrome decoration.
