Masonic Brass Bookmark – Paris Chamber – Grand Orient Of France – 19th / Early 20th Century

Rare Masonic brass bookmark – Paris Lodge – Grand Orient of France – 19th / early 20th century

A very beautiful and rare Masonic bookmark made of brass, in an elongated rectangular shape, richly engraved and openwork, bearing the inscription “CHAMBRE DE PARIS”.

The piece features a particularly elaborate Masonic design with a square and compass, a torch, crossed tools, and abundant plant motifs of laurel, oak, and foliage. Entirely decorated and carved in relief.

The upper portion bears a Masonic inscription consisting of initials separated by ellipses, in accordance with the tradition of Masonic abbreviations. The complete phrase has not been definitively deciphered ( S ∴ D ∴ C ∴ E ∴ A ∴ M ∴ E ∴ S ∴ D ∴ D ∴ D ∴ L )

The phrase “CHAMBRE DE PARIS” is particularly interesting: it refers to the Paris Chamber of the Grand Orient de France, a historic institutional structure of the Grand Orient.

The plaque comes with its original black cord and metal tassel, elements that reinforce its character as a ceremonial or representative object.

Beautiful craftsmanship: fine engraving, pronounced relief, and a central openwork design forming the symbol of the square and compass.

Material: patinated brass
Period: probably late 19th – early 20th century
Dimensions: 16.5 cm long × 3.4 cm wide
Thickness: approximately 1 mm
Condition: in very good condition, with a beautiful antique patina;some signs of wear and oxidation consistent with the object’s age.

A rare and particularly decorative item, intended for collectors of Freemasonry, lodge artifacts, and historical curiosities.
