Japanese ceramic vase with lid. The hand-painted and gilded decoration depicts scholars in a garden, as well as various ornaments. On the sides are two ears in the form of knotted ropes, and on the lid sits a Fo dog, called Komainu in Japan.

Good condition, one of the ears has a glued crack, the lion's tail is damaged, the edge of the lid is chipped.
