Three Samson Porcelain Plates, Chelsea Style, Circa 1860
We are proud to present this exceptional set of three hard-paste porcelain plates by Edme Samson, made in Paris around 1860. These pieces perfectly replicate the famous style of the Golden Anchor period (1756–1769) of the English Chelsea Porcelain Manufactory.
The design features alternating openwork panels and garlands of raised bells descending toward the center. The hand-painted center depicts exotic birds rendered with great finesse.
The quality of these Samson pieces is so exceptional that they have become prestigious collectibles in their own right, indistinguishable from the originals.
Technique: hard-paste porcelain, openwork, molded in relief, and hand-painted. Provenance: Edme Samson Manufactory, Paris. Rarity: Very rare as a set of three.
Dimensions: 24 cm in diameter, 3 cm in height, total weight 1,477 grams.
The condition is superb, verified under UV light, with only slight natural wear to the gilding on the raised flowers. Comparisons: Original works by Chelsea.
