Royal Worcester Albert Shuck Painted Fruit Cabinet Plate, 1928

Artist: Royal Worcester

Signed by Royal Worcester artist Albert Shuck, this elegant cabinet plate was produced in England in 1928 and represents the factory's celebrated Painted Fruit tradition at its finest. The underside retains the original Bonhams auction labels, providing documented auction provenance.

The richly decorated cobalt blue border is enhanced with hand-applied burnished gold ornament and finely executed raised jewelled (pearl) gilding.

The central reserve depicts two ripe pears and a cluster of dark grapes amongst delicate flowering sprays, painted with beautifully controlled colour transitions and naturalistic detail. The harmonious composition demonstrates the refined workmanship for which Royal Worcester cabinet plates became internationally renowned.

Albert Shuck (1880-1961) belonged to the distinguished generation of Royal Worcester artists who brought the factory's painted-fruit department to international prominence during the 1920s and 1930s. Specialising in fruit, orchids and flowers, his signed works remain highly regarded by collectors and represent an important part of the classic Worcester school.

The underside bears the authentic puce Royal Worcester crowned factory mark with the date code for 1928, together with the hand-painted pattern number W8346 and additional factory production marks.
