Early 19th Century Worcester Porcelain Coffee Cup And Saucer, Dragon In Compartments
A refined Worcester porcelain coffee cup and saucer dating to the Regency period, decorated in the celebrated Dragon in Compartments pattern.
The design combines a sinuous oriental dragon with reserves of precious objects and floral motifs framed by richly gilded panels, executed in vivid famille-verte enamels with fine gilt rims.
Inspired by Chinese Kangxi prototypes, this decorative scheme became one of Worcester’s most enduring chinoiserie patterns and remains highly collectible today.
