Chelsea House Royal Blue Bird Display Plates, Set Of Four, C.1980s
A beautifully decorated set of four Chelsea House display plates produced during the 1980s, each featuring a different exotic bird study against a white ground surrounded by royal-blue and gilt ornament.
Inspired by traditional English bird-painted porcelain, the plates combine strong colour, elegant gilding and carefully executed bird studies. Their design draws on the Chelsea bird tradition, eighteenth-century decorative ceramics and Chinese Export influences, creating pieces with both classical inspiration and contemporary decorative appeal.
The birds are individually characterised and confidently painted, while the rich blue borders provide strong visual contrast. Displayed together, the four plates create a highly decorative arrangement suitable for traditional, eclectic or maximalist interiors.
Founded in 1974, Chelsea House became known for luxury decorative furnishings created for interior designers and collectors seeking elegant traditional-inspired pieces.
