Royal Worcester Richard Sebright Signed Painted Fruit Cabinet Plate, 1937

Artist: Royal Worcester

Created by the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company in 1937, this elegant cabinet plate is signed by the celebrated factory artist Richard Sebright. The underside retains the original Bonhams auction labels, providing documented auction provenance.

The central reserve is painted with two ripe apples and several blackberries amongst delicate flowering sprays, executed with the soft tonal transitions and luminous colouring characteristic of Richard Sebright's finest fruit studies. The broad cobalt blue border is lavishly enriched with burnished hand-applied gold ornament and finely executed raised jewelled (pearl) gilding, creating one of Royal Worcester's most recognisable decorative styles.

Richard Sebright is officially recognised as the greatest fruit painter in the history of the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company. During a career spanning fifty-six years, he perfected the factory's celebrated Painted Fruit tradition through exceptional realism, refined colour modelling and remarkable botanical accuracy. His signed works are regarded as museum-quality examples of Royal Worcester porcelain and continue to command the strongest collector interest.

The underside bears the authentic puce Royal Worcester crowned factory mark with the date code for 1937, together with the hand-painted pattern number W8046 and additional factory production marks.
