"Large Qajar Persian Engraved Brass Candlestick, C.1880"

Persia, circa 1880. Substantial cast brass candlestick with tulip nozzle and
triangular pyramidal base, profusely hand-engraved (qalam-zani). Upper nastaliq
inscriptions; lower hunting and courtly scenes with animals and birds. Formerly
wired: central channel and two small holes. Rotate to display as a candlestick
with no visible hole, or re-equip as a distinctive lamp base. Honest patina,
rubbing to mastic, small edge bruises; sturdy.
