Antique 19th Century French Parian Ware Figure La Dormeuse Sleeping Girl After Michel Victor Ac

An exceptionally rare English Georgian soft-paste porcelain coffee pot and original cover, produced by the Caughley porcelain factory, Shropshire, circa 1780-1795.

The piece features Caughley's characteristic early lead glaze with a subtle bluish-grey tint. Decorated in underglaze blue transferware, the body and cover display the scarce Temple Landscape pattern, an early Willow-style Chinoiserie design depicting a figure with a parasol crossing an arched bridge, a crane beside the water and an oriental pavilion beneath a stylised fruiting tree. A geometric Greek key border encircles the neck. Inspired by Chinese export porcelain, this refined transfer-printed design represents one of the important early stages in the development of the English Willow tradition. Historic silver protective mounts remain fitted to the rim, cover and footrim.

The elegant high pear-shaped form is completed by an elongated S-scroll spout with a characteristic thickened lip and a loop handle with thumb rest. The underside is unmarked, consistent with late eighteenth-century Caughley production.

Condition: The coffee pot remains in excellent antique condition. A fine internal hairline crack of approximately 2 cm is present in the upper section, visible under UV examination; no further cracks or restoration were detected. The cover has a small unobtrusive chip to the edge, with some losses to the original silver mounts. Minor firing imperfections typical of eighteenth-century production are present.
