Royal Dux Monumental Porcelain Graceful Maiden Sculpture, Early 20th Century
An impressive monumental Royal Dux porcelain figure of a graceful maiden holding a wrapped bouquet of roses, produced in the early 20th century. At 79 cm high, it has the scale of a serious decorative sculpture and immediately commands attention within an interior.
The long vertical silhouette, lifted arm and flowing drapery create exactly the sort of elegant Art Nouveau presence that makes the best Royal Dux figures so effective in a room.
The figure has strong decorative and sculptural appeal, but also unusually good definition. The face is clear and expressive, the extremities are well modelled, and the drapery still reads with confidence and movement.
While some Royal Dux figures display softened detail from long-used moulds, the modelling here remains notably crisp, giving the sculpture a particularly refined presence.
The wrapped bouquet of roses adds softness and romantic symbolism, while the scale makes it an ideal focal piece for designers seeking a single object with enough authority to shape an entire space.
The underside bears the applied pink triangular mark reading “Royal Dux Bohemia” together with the impressed model number 1700.
