Copeland & Garrett Apple Green Scottish Views Dishes, C.1833–1847
A rare pair of antique English porcelain dishes produced by Copeland & Garrett during the partnership period of 1833–1847. Decorated with named Scottish views of Loch Cullin and Loch Alsh, they combine hand-painted landscapes with vivid apple-green grounds and richly moulded Rococo Revival ornament.
Pattern number 5750 appears on the reverse and indicates that the dishes originally formed part of a larger dessert or fruit service. Their strong colour, topographical decoration and elegant modelling create exceptional visual impact.
Copeland & Garrett traded for only fourteen years, making wares bearing the mark significantly scarcer than later Copeland production. Examples from the factory are preserved in important museum collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The present pair offers a compelling combination of rarity, decorative quality and historical significance. Complete surviving pairs are encountered far less frequently than single pieces.
