A rare soft-paste porcelain plate from theRoyal Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory, made in 1777 and decorated by the famous floral painterAmbroise Michel. His personal mark, a calligraphic lowercase “m,” isofficially listed in the Register of Painters and Decorators of theRoyal Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory, allowing this piece to be attributed to one of themanufactory’s most renowned artists. Ambroise Michel was commissioned to decorate the most prestigiousroyal and diplomatic services from Sèvres. Plates from thesefamous services are now preserved in the collections of the Louvre,France’s leading national museum, the Palace of Versailles, andother major museums. An authentic piece from the Royal Porcelain Manufactory ofSèvres, this plate is a prime example of the museum-quality craftsmanship of18th-century French porcelain.                                                                                       Its authenticity is confirmed by the blue mark on the underside featuringtwo intertwined “L”s, accompanied on the left by the date letter “z,”corresponding to the year 1777. The “Assiette à palmes” model, designed byJean-Claude Duplessis, features an elegant twelve-lobed rim, awickerwork (“corbeille”) motif, delicate blue volutes, and fine bouquets offlowers hand-painted in rich polychrome glazes.Dimensions: diameter 24.5 cm. Height: 2.9 cm.Condition: wear on the gilding along the rim, perfectlyconsistent with over 250 years of careful use. The hand-painted decoration isin excellent condition, with only slight surface wear on thewhite portion. A small, historic hole was drilled on the reverse side of the wing to allowfor wall mounting, as visible in the photographs. No chips, cracks,hairline cracks, or restorations. The plate has been examined under a UV light, and theattached photographs include UV images confirming the absence ofrestoration.Please examine the attached photographscarefully, as they are an integral part of this description.
