Object description :

"Kutani Porcelain Vase, Kinrin Workshop, Kaga, Japan, C. 1890, With Stand"
A rare and refined Kutani porcelain vase from the Kinrin Workshop, Kaga province, Japan, circa 1890. This baluster vase features an especially elegant and uncommon silhouette, hand-painted in vibrant iron red and gold enamels with classic Kutani motifs. The decoration includes panels of flowers and birds, set among cloud-shaped cartouches depicting Japanese landscapes and houses. Fine gilding enhances the intricate floral and geometric designs, demonstrating the skilled artistry typical of Kinrin export wares.
Marked to the base in red: 加賀国錦林製 ("Kaga no kuni, Kinrin sei" – "Made by Kinrin, Kaga province").
This vase is a fine example of high-end export Kutani porcelain produced for Western markets at the end of the 19th century. The style is noted for its delicate linework and restrained opulence, with subtle gilt detailing and less heavy enamel than more commercial wares. Comparable examples are in major museum collections and have appeared at international auctions. Condition: Excellent antique condition. Small original firing flaw (factory dimple) to the upper shoulder. Minor enamel loss to upper and lower rim. Otherwise superb preservation. Original wooden stand included. Dimensions: Weight (with stand): 1675 g Height: 29.7 cm Diameter (widest point): 15.5 cm Shipping & Packaging: Fully tracked and insured delivery. Carefully packed using recycled materials where possible. Customs paperwork provided where necessary for smooth international delivery. Please review all photographs carefully as they form part of the description, and feel free to ask any questions.
