Object description :

"Chamberlain Worcester "dragon In Compartments" Pattern Plate, England, C.1815"
A rare and decorative porcelain dessert plate byChamberlain Worcester, beautifully painted in the renowned "Dragon inCompartments" pattern. The surface is boldly segmented into individualcompartments, each outlined in gilt and filled with a stylized dragon, amythical beast, exotic vases, and flowers. The overall design is inspired byChinese export porcelains of the Kangxi period, but freely reinterpreted in thedistinctive English taste characteristic of Chamberlain Worcester in the early19th century.
Thecentral medallion displays a striking pink chrysanthemum rosette, a traditionalsymbol of longevity in Chinese art, while the animated dragon and fantasticalcreature in the compartments exemplify the cross-cultural taste and technicalvirtuosity of the Worcester decorators.
Atthat time, Worcester was owned by the Chamberlain family, whose name appears inthe hand-written factory mark on the base. The number "75" is mostlikely a pattern number, as commonly found on Chamberlain Worcester pieces ofthis era.  This is a wonderful andquintessential example of true English porcelain of the Regency era, worthy ofany advanced collection.
Comparableexamples can be found in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London and theBritish Museum. The "Dragon in Compartments" pattern (ornament) isamong the most valuable and coveted in the entire history of English porcelain.Pieces decorated in this pattern are actively sought after by collectorsworldwideCondition:Excellent antique condition. There is a single chip tothe rim (clearly shown in the photos), with no cracks or restoration.
