Near-pair Japanese Arita sometsuke porcelain dishes, late Edo–early Meiji, c.1865–1890. Hand-painted twin koi with deep cobalt washes and original black enamel patches (the crackle lies within the enamel layer). Exterior cloud scroll; square Fuku mark to each base. Ideal decorative pair, meaningful subject (perseverance & prosperity).
Size/weight: 18.5 × 3 cm (284 g) and 18.3 × 3 cm (252 g).
Condition: one excellent; the other with a small chip to the back rim, not visible from the front. No hairlines or restoration observed.
