Royal Worcester Brian Leaman Painted Fruit Cabinet Plate, C.1970s

A rare Royal Worcester Painted Fruit cabinet plate, produced by the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company, England, circa 1970s. The underside retains the original Bonhams auction labels, providing documented auction provenance.

The plate is decorated in Royal Worcester's celebrated Painted Fruit pattern. The central reserve is masterfully hand-painted and signed by Royal Worcester factory artist Brian Leaman, depicting a finely executed still life of peaches and grapes against the characteristic mossy ground traditionally associated with Royal Worcester Painted Fruit decoration. The composition is magnificently framed by a deep underglaze cobalt blue border lavishly enriched with hand-applied 24-carat gold decoration.

Brian Leaman joined the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company in 1969 and specialised in the manufactory's traditional Painted Fruit style. Trained under John Freeman, he continued this celebrated artistic tradition. Signed works by recognised Royal Worcester fruit painters are generally more desirable to collectors than comparable unsigned examples.

The reverse bears the official gold Royal Worcester Fine Bone China factory backstamp with the registered trademark symbol.

Condition:

Outstanding original cabinet condition. Examined under UV light, no evidence of restoration, repairs, chips or cracks was detected. The hand-painted decoration, enamels, cobalt blue ground and extensive gilt decoration remain in exceptional original condition, with no discernible signs of use.
