Helena Wolfsohn Royal Yellow Dresden Urns On Pedestals, C.1879-1883

Artist: Helena Wolfsohn

An impressive pair of German Dresden porcelain urns on separate square pedestals, produced by the celebrated atelier of Helena Wolfsohn, Dresden, c.1879-1883.

Hand-painted with a vibrant Royal Yellow ground and lavish gilding, the urns display galante scenes inspired by eighteenth-century French painting, together with floral reserves and richly ornamented borders. The rare yellow colour, architectural form and extensive gilding create exceptional decorative impact.

The underside bears the underglaze blue AR pseudomark employed by Helena Wolfsohn before its prohibition in 1883. Both urns retain their original nineteenth-century internal brass mounting system.

A striking decorative pair from one of Dresden's most respected ateliers, equally suited to a serious porcelain collection or an interior display.

Dimensions:

Vase 1: Height 27.2 cm; Width 15.5 cm; Depth 11 cm; Weight 1207 g
