"Daisy Makeig-jones Wedgwood ,lustre Pair Of Miniature Bowls, C.1915"
An exceptionally rare pair of Wedgwood lustre
miniature bowls in the Z5294 pattern, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones around
1915. The Blue Lustre exterior is enhanced with subtle mottling and a
continuous frieze of gilded flying geese. Inside, the Orange Lustre ground with
crimson mottling is bordered by gilt bird silhouettes, with a central
hand-painted hummingbird in fine gold. Miniature lustre bowls of this size —
2.8 cm high, 5.6 cm diameter — were produced in very limited quantities, and
matched pairs are seldom seen. Highly collectible and in excellent condition,
this set offers both rarity and beauty for the serious collector.
