"Daisy Makeig-jones Wedgwood Lustre Octagonal Bowl, C.1915"
A rare and striking Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre
octagonal bowl, pattern Z4832, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones circa 1915. The
Mother-of-Pearl Lustre exterior, softly mottled in pale tones, is decorated
with finely gilded butterflies in flight. The Orange Lustre interior with
crimson mottling is bordered by butterflies and features a central medallion in
intricate gilding. At 5 cm in height and 9 cm in diameter, it is both a display
piece and a testament to Makeig-Jones’s mastery of lustre decoration, which
earned her recognition in major international exhibitions during the early 20th
century. Highly desirable for collectors of Art Deco ceramics and Wedgwood
lustreware.
