A sculptural late-19th-century Shiwan figure-vase formed as an overfilled treasure sack with a tall gathered neck. In the recessed front niche, the laughing Hotei (Budai) reclines with relaxed presence, his rounded form and joyful expression giving the piece strong character across a room. The dense stoneware body is covered with a warm yellow glaze that has developed fine antique craquelure, adding depth and authenticity. The unglazed base shows expected firing marks.
