Medieval Pewter Dinette With Knife - 15th Century, Medieval Sign, Gothic

Medieval pewter knife dinette - 15th century, medieval sign, gothic

Rare small medieval pewter knife dinette, dating from the 15th century.

The handle is decorated on both sides with geometric motifs composed of lines and dots. These miniature objects faithfully reproduced the everyday utensils used by adults and were intended for children's play.

This piece is particularly interesting because it is made of pewter.

This piece is particularly interesting for its very good state of preservation. These small objects were generally heavily handled and mishandled, with the result that they have come down to us today mostly in fragmentary form. Complete, well-preserved examples remain rare on the market.

These productions were made by bimblotiers, craftsmen specialized in small pewter objects, also known for making pilgrimage signs.

The object comes from an old French collection and was discovered in the Netherlands.

Dimensions: 7.2 cm long.

Condition: good general state of conservation, with a visible ding on the blade.
