Reliquary Of Pope Pius IX - Authenticated Historical Souvenir, 19th Century

Rare and moving historical souvenir of Pope Pius IX (1792-1878), presented in the form of a reliquary (theca) dating from the second half of the 19th century.

This finely decorated theca is adorned with fleur-de-lys and the papal arms - tiara, crosier and patriarchal cross - testifying to its sacred nature and ecclesiastical provenance. Inside, on a red velvet background, is a cross made from an authentic piece of His Holiness Pius IX's cassock. It is accompanied by two ears of wheat delicately fashioned into paperoles.

Below the composition is an authentic manuscript in Gothic letters stating:
"M(orceau) de la Soutane de SS Pie IX".

The reverse of the theca is fully sealed with a red wax seal, guaranteeing its integrity. This seal features the coat of arms of Monseigneur Charles-François Turinaz (1838-1918), Bishop of Nancy, adding to the object's historical interest and traceability.
