Silver Reliquary Containing A Relic Of Christ's Holy Tunic, 19th Century.

A rare and remarkable oval-shaped silver devotional reliquary dating from the 19th century. The reliquary is adorned with two applied angels, positioned on either side of the oval, framing the relic preserved inside.

In the center is a relic attributed to the Holy Tunic of Christ, accompanied by its certificate of authenticity bearing the handwritten or printed inscription: “From the Holy Tunic.”

Although the lid is missing, the back of the reliquary still bears its episcopal seal—a particularly interesting feature attesting to its authenticity and indicating that the reliquary has not been opened since it was sealed.

Relics related to the Passion of Christ are among the rarest and most sought-after devotional objects. This small reliquary is therefore particularly exceptional, both for its subject matter and for its state of preservation and apparent authenticity.

The reliquary was acquired at auction and originally came from a French monastery.
