Egyptian Carnelian Amulet – Stylized Heart – New Kingdom Or 26th Dynasty, Egyptology
Beautiful ancient Egyptian amulet carved from red chalcedony (carnelian), depicting a stylized heart. The upper part features a suspension hole, indicating that it was worn as an amulet.
This type of amulet is characteristic of the New Kingdom (c. 1550–1069 B.C.) and is also found during the 26th Dynasty (c. 680–526 B.C.). The heart played a central role in Egyptian funerary beliefs, as it was considered the seat of thought, memory, and the soul. Heart-shaped amulets were intended to offer protection to their wearer, both in life and in the afterlife.
The specimen shown here is in excellent condition. The stone has retained a superb, lustrous patina that highlights the depth of its reddish-orange hue and the quality of its antique polish.
An authentic and elegant piece, ideal for both collectors of Egyptian antiquities and enthusiasts of gemstone carving and ancient jewelry.
