Rare devotional plaque depicting a Virgin and Child in high relief, made of polychrome papier mâché.
Italian work from the late 17th or early 18th century, most likely from Florentine workshops.
The polychromy is entirely period, preserved with its old gilding visible on the original frame. The whole is set in a second frame with green-painted moldings, adding to its decorative and devotional character.
The plate is complete with the original gilding.
The plaque is complete. Please note: a few cracks, as well as small chips around the edges, requiring light restoration.
