Medieval Domed Leather Box With Incised Decoration – Late 15th Century – Original Metalwork – Appraised

Medieval domed leather box with incised decoration – late 15th century – original metalwork – appraised

A rare and elegant domed box from the medieval period, characteristic of late 15th-century craftsmanship.

The body of the chest is made of softwood, covered with incised and embossed leather featuring a rich geometric and floral design typical of the period. The entire piece is securely held together by its original corner metal fittings and hinges, attesting to its authenticity and excellent condition.

The chest retains its original handle, though a small fastener is missing. It also features its original lock with a latch, sold without a key. The interior is partially lined with vellum.

This fine example has been appraised by the Laurence Fligny firm (Paris), guaranteeing its attribution and historical significance.

Despite being over 550 years old, the piece is in good overall condition, which is remarkable for an item of this age.

Dimensions: length: 34 cm, depth: 16.5 cm, height: 21.5 cm

A beautiful collector’s item, rare on the market, combining medieval charm and authenticity.
