Bronze Flemish Gothic Candlestick - Late 15th Century - Middle Ages High Ages

Rare Gothic bronze candlestick from the Medieval period, datable to the late 15th century.

This is a typical Flemish model, characterized by its stem adorned with turned rings and its openwork spigot with windows. The wide wax recovery cup corresponds to a less frequent variant of this type of production, which reinforces the interest of the piece.

The whole presents a beautiful old patina and a good general state of preservation. Note a crack between the first and second rings from the bottom. The foot is incomplete and was originally intended to include an additional element in its lower part.

Despite this alteration, this candlestick remains a remarkable testimony to the art of bronze at the end of the Middle Ages and constitutes a very fine collector's item.
