Cuirassiers Sword Mle An XIII
Saber of cuirassiers model An XIII (guard arms touching the cap).
Straight double-edged hollow blade with point in the extension of the back hallmarked with the L in a circle of F.L Lobstein, reviser in Klingenthal from 06/1804 to 03/1829, the B in a circle of J.G Bick, controller from 02/1809 to 07/1819, as well as the spangled K in a circle of Joseph Krantz, inspector from March 1812 to the end of July 1814, engraved on the back Mfture Imple du Klingenthal Septembre 1813.
Brass plate guard, with four prongs, including three bolted secondary prongs. Short-tailed cap. Guard branch hallmarked Bick and Krantz. The quillon bears the hallmark of Joseph Bisch, controller from 12/809 to 1829. Handle sheathed in black leather, watermarked with twisted brass.
Model 1816 scabbard with two rings of bélières ending in a lyre-shaped stinger.
N.B:for the record, half the blades forged in Klingenthal were assembled on site, the other half were shipped to Versailles.
