Cavalry officer’s saber, Hussar, from the First Empire, 19th century
Gilded and silver-plated mountings.
Pommel with a riveted knob and a long tang chiseled along its entire dorsal length.
A joint arch connecting the pommel to the crossguard at a right angle, with the end terminating in a ball-shaped cylinder.
The arch is engraved along its entire dorsal surface; see photos.
Diamond-shaped guard plates with different decorations on each side; see photos.
Filigree tang with copper wire.
Curved blade with a flat back, a single cutting edge, and a counter-cut edge at the tip and hollow sides; blued and gilded with motifs on the first third; see photos.
Brass scabbard with silver plating, featuring chiseled motifs along the entire length of one side and two suspension rings.
Pommel with an iron spike; see photos.
Length: 97 cm
Length without scabbard: 90 cm
Blade length: 75 cm
Blade width at the heel: 3.4 cm
